The Marina And Why I Love It by MOMO Kallins

We moved to Puerto Vallarta six years ago: a retirement age couple but still young and looking for fun. Puerto Vallarta had been our go-to spot for over forty years. And the Marina was just a Marina back in the day. It has grown vastly over the years.

This Colonia is an eight minute drive from Old Town Vallarta.

Chic Restaurants

Pretty soon we discovered some of the best and most unusual restaurants in all of Vallarta in the Marina. Most are situated on the bay with views of motored and sail boats. It’s just lovely.
I first discovered Porto Bello, an Italian Restaurant with a variety of gourmet Italian dishes with an emphasis on seafood. Everything is cooked to perfection and the terrace is simply Divine.

Mikado is a classy Japanese restaurant inside the Marriott Vallarta Resort & Spa. The food is delicious and the atmosphere is authentic Japanese. The service is fantastic with a sophisticated Wine List, as well.
Sonora Prime serves some of the best steaks in town. The party atmosphere is contagious and the DJ keeps the place hopping. I also enjoy La Leche which is a hop and skip away.

My number one choice is a breakfast/lunch joint right on the water called, Mr. Cream. You can enjoy giant waffles or hot cakes as you relax by the bay. This restaurant brings the fun and the daytime food.
I like to go out and eat alone some days and as an older woman I am welcomed into the frivolity and family atmosphere of this adorable Colonia. Alone or with friends/family the Marina Vallarta says, “welcome.”

Thursday Market in Marina

But wait, this tranquil Colonia transform into a major happening on Thursday evenings during the season. The Thursday Night Market is not to be missed. Food, art, jewelry, excellent crafts and terrific people watching.A great night for the whole family to enjoy. You will find crafts, art and jewelry that can not be found elsewhere!

Day Passes in Puerto Vallarta

A fabulous day retreat can be had by buying a day pass to one of the hotels in the Marina. The Marriott, the Westin and the Hilton all offer passes that are reasonable and you get a percentage to spend on food. Enjoy a cabana and sit by the pool while sipping your favorite refreshment.

Golf with amazing views of the Marina

The Marina Club de Golf is a world-class eighteen hole public course with views of lush vegetation and the Banderas Bay. Or you can walk through the gorgeous neighborhoods of homes that surround the course and just enjoy the ambiance.
