5 Things to do in Puerto Vallarta on a Rainy Day
So you came to Puerto Vallarta for some warm weather, a margarita, and of course the sun! But what happens if your vacation is “ruined” by a rainy day? Thankfully Puerto Vallarta offers more than just beaches and sun to keep you entertained on those cloudy days. Here are 5 things to do in Puerto Vallarta during bad weather.
#1: Go to the Movie Theater
Sure you can go to the movie theater wherever you live, but have you ever been to theater like this? Reclining chairs, full service restaurant, and even better is that they also serve alcohol! The movies are mostly in English with Spanish subtitles, and the prices are a fraction of what you would expect to pay back in the United States or Canada.
#2: Shopping
Puerto Vallarta offers tons of great shopping, not just for souvenirs, but for clothing, food, candies, and so much more. What’s even better is that many of the malls and shopping areas are covered or indoors. Places like the tianguis on the Rio Cuale offer an indoor shopping bazaar for souvenirs, and Galerias Vallarta and Plaza Caracol offer indoor escapes where you will find, clothing stores, food and more.
#3: Art Galleries
Puerto Vallarta features so many great and fantastic artists. Mexican nationals and foreigners who call Vallarta home showcase their masterpieces across the dozens of galleries around town. From October through May of each season, you can join the Vallarta Art Walk hosted during the evenings.
#4: Go Bowling
Within Plaza Caracol in the Hotel Zone and off on the far north side of the mall you will find a small bowling alley in the middle of the mall. This small bowling alley features 6 lanes, pool tables, and of course snacks to munch on while you’re having a ball.
#5 Watch the Storms
If you haven’t been to Puerto Vallarta in the summer, it’s actually totally worth dealing with the heat. You have never seen storms like this, unless you have already been here to witness them before! The rain storms are torrential downpours, and the thunder and lighting is spectacular. Hunker down in a restaurant or bar with a view and prepare to be amazed!
