Habitat for Humanity Mexico: Helping Build Our Communities
Since 1989 Habitat for Humanity Mexico has been turning the dream of home ownership into reality for low-income families thanks to donations and charity.
For those who have not yet heard of Habitat for Humanity, the non-profit organization offers training and technical services to low-income families. Through that training, families are enabled to build their own home and also help build homes for fellow community members. Habitat for Humanity also promotes innovative and affordable financing options for families through no-interest loans.
In Mexico the average low-income family without financial support will take 20 years to build their home. With Habitat for Humanity Mexico, 17 volunteers can build one house for one low-income family in between 6 and 12 months at an average cost of $11,700 USD. All of the donations and time comes from the support of community members and volunteers and has already helped 61,000 families across 24 states in Mexico.
What can you do to help? Volunteer or contribute. If you would like to become personally involved, Habitat for Humanity is always looking for helping hands to construct homes for families.
